Order allow, deny Deny from all WHO WE ARE - Centre for Legal Aid Assistance & Settlement

Centre for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS) is a Christian charity dedicated to helping persecuted Christians in Pakistan.

  • We are passionate about defending the rights of persecuted Christians who have been wrongly accused or treated unfairly because of their faith.
  • We support Pakistani Christians: individuals, families or communities who have lost everything – their jobs, homes, their loved ones and their freedom.
  • We defend the voiceless victims of persecution in the courts of law in Pakistan and work hard to give back to them their freedom and dignity.

CLAAS’s ministry is based on Proverbs: 31:8-9

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Our Mission

CLAAS’s mission is to help Christians and the members of other religious minority
communities who face persecution in Pakistan. We provide practical support and campaign
internationally and locally for the abolishment or revision of unjust laws and policies that are
ruining people’s lives.

Recommendations

Since 1998 our story has become the story of hundreds of persecuted Christians like Tahir Iqbal who converted to Christianity and was murdered in jail because of his faith.

Our story is the story of Samuel Masih, who was accused under the Blasphemy law and was killed by the police guard who was supposed to look after him in hospital. When investigated the Muslim policeman said that his religious duty to kill a blasphemer was more important than his role as a policeman.

Our story is the story of hundreds of young girls like Hina, a 14 years old girl from Sialkot (Punjab),who are being forced into marriages with Muslim men. Or, of young women like Chanda from Lahore who are beaten up and abused sexually because of their Christian faith.

Our story is the story of hundreds of families who have been displaced and are living in fear and poverty because a loved one was accused of blasphemy and the whole family had to leave the village or the town.

Our story is the story of churches that have been burnt up and destroyed, of pastors and priests who have been sent to prison or even killed.

Our story is the story of thousands of friends like you in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world who care for the persecuted Christians in Pakistan, who give generously, who pray and who campaign with us for the abolishment of the unjust blasphemy laws.

I hope that our story will become your story too as you join us on a journey of healing the wounds of those who are hurt unjustly, of providing shelter, a roof over their heads and giving them hope by taking their plight to the Pakistani government and other international bodies.
