A Lahore High Court judge has expressed his frustration at the failure of lawmakers to reform Christuian family laws in Pakistan.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has sought the assistance of the attorney general of Pakistan on a petition challenging repeal of Section 7 of the Christian Divorce Act.

Former bishop Alexander John Malik had submitted that Section 7 of Divorce Act 1869, which confuses navy Christians about divorce regulations, should be restored.

It is said that unlike in the UK, the irretrievable breakdown of marriage is grounds for divorce for Pakistani Christians.

The only ground available is for a man to divorce his wife through allegations of adultery.
