An Ahmadi place of worship was set on fire one after a Muslim mob burnt down a factory owned by members of the minority community, following one of its employees being accused of blasphemy.

After reports surfaced that one of the factory workers had allegedly desecrated the Holy Quran, hundreds of people surrounded it and set it ablaze.

The mob was incited by provocative speeches from local clerics in Jhelum, and torched the factory in the presence of the police.

While an FIR has been registered against the blasphemy accused, no action has been taken against the perpetrators of the arson.

There are now fears that local Muslims will attack the homes of the Ahmadi community.
However, the Pakistani government is failing to act on the threats faced by its minorities.
