Thousands of Islamist hardliners protested in Lahore in October 12 as Pakistan awaits a ruling on Asia Bibi’s case.

The Christian woman has been on death row since 2010 after being convicted of blasphemy.

The rally was organised by anti-blasphemy party Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP), and was supported by demonstrations in Karachi, and in Rawalpindi

The Islamists demanded Asia Bibi’s execution be carried out, days after Pakistan’s Supreme Court heard her final appeal and reserved the judgment.

The court said it had reached a judgement at the hearing on Monday 8th October, but that it would not release it immediately for “reasons to be recorded later”.
