The Christian community from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has staged a protest outside the Peshawar Press Club over the recent announcement of election seats.

None of the political parties have announced Christians on the women reserve seats, while on the minority reserve seats Christians have not been included on the priority list of any party.

On June 19 the protestors from different political parties including demonstrated against Christians being overlooked for the reserved seats, and demanded due representation in parliament.

The protests were led by former MPA Azeem Ghauri, Silas Gill, Yasir Bhatti, Riaz Masih, Tanveer Sherazi and Haroon Sarabdeyal; all hailing from KPK’s Christian community.

The protestors complained that the leading political parties have given tickets to members from Hindu, Sikh and other communities but Christians had been ignored.

The protesters were also joined by members of the Hindu and Sikh community.
