Pakistani Christian woman Asia Bibi has been freed from jail after spending eight years on death row.
It is believed she has already flown out of the city of Multan to an unknown secure destination in the country.

She was freed after Pakistan’s Supreme Court overturned her conviction under blasphemy charges and the death sentence she was given.

Officials dismissed reports Bibi had been flown out of the country as hardline Islamists who have been calling for her to be banned from leaving continue to protest against her release.

Bibi, 53, was convicted of blasphemy in 2010 following a dispute with neighbours that stemmed from her drinking water from their glass because she was not Muslim.

She was accused of making derogatory remarks against Islam, something she has always denied.
