Sargodha, August 22, 2024 — The city of Sargodha has been engulfed in tension following the mysterious death of a local sanitary worker, Qamar Javed Masih. Masih, a married father of three, was found hanged in his residential quarters while on duty at the house of a session court judge. Both he and his mother had been employed as sanitary workers by the session court, responsible for maintaining the judge’s residence.

According to sources, the judge and his family were not present at the time of the incident, as they were away in Rawalpindi due to summer court vacations. Only domestic workers were present when Masih’s body was discovered.

The tragic event has sparked outrage, particularly among Javed’s family and the local Christian community. In response, protesters blocked Noori Gate Road in Sargodha, demanding answers from the authorities. “We want to know the truth behind our son Qamar Javed’s death. Was he murdered, or was this truly a case of suicide?” asked one of the demonstrators.

The family remains Sceptical about the official narrative, raising suspicions of foul play. However, no formal investigation has been launched, and an FIR has yet to be registered. Police claim no evidence has been found to determine whether Javed was killed or if his death was self-inflicted.

Although the family has called for a deeper investigation, they have yet to formally file a complaint with the police. Authorities have urged them to do so, promising to initiate an official inquiry once a complaint is received.

As the community waits for developments, rumours have emerged that the police may avoid registering an FIR, fueling fears that justice may never be served. Local authorities are expected to address these concerns in the coming days as they continue to assess the circumstances surrounding Javed Masih’s death.
