Pervaiz Masih has been granted bail after spending one month in jail accused of blasphemy.

He was arrested after arguing with villagers over the issue of a contract regarding the supply of sand, and locals applied pressure on the police to arrest him for blasphemy.

Muslim villagers warned the police that they would set the houses of all the Christians in the village on fire if an FIR containing charges of blasphemy were not lodged against Masih.

Police therefore buckled under the pressure and raided Masih’s house. They harassed and tortured his family, including the women.
