Twelve-year-old Christian girl murdered after being gang raped by five Muslims in Pakistan
As the country celebrated independence day on August 14, Muqadas Kainat was raped and murdered by five Muslims in a remote field near her home. She had left her house in the Brick Kiln vicinity in Sahiwal to go and the pee when she did not return home. Her Pakistani Christian father Rafique Masih, who works in the brick kiln to support his wife a seven children, was in the hospital visiting his wife when he was told that his 12-year-old daughter was missing.
Mr Masih rushed home and searched Muqadas Kainat the area of the brick Kiln Company and in homes of neighbours but could not find.
The following day the Muslim clerk of the brick kiln company told Mr Masih that he had a received an anonymous call on his mobile phone stating that Muqadas Kainat was in the fields. He rushed into the fields, accompanied by others, and made the grim discovery of his daughter’s body.
The police recovered the dead body of Muqadas Kainat and a post mortem was conducted which revealed that Muqadas Kainat had been gang raped and later strangled to death by five men.
The Farid Town Police Station registered an FIR against unknown rapists and killers and started investigations, but until now nobody has been arrested.
Shaiwal is a remote district of the Punjab province of Pakistan and the gang rape and murder of Muqadas Kainat failed to attract media attention or the attention of NGO workers.
A Christian youth leader from the area is helping the poor family to ensure justice, but his name is being withheld to maintain his safety.
