A young Pakistani Christian man has been cleared of blasphemy and released from police custody.

Farhan Aziz Masih, of Muslim town, Gujranwala, was charged with blasphemy and has been cleared and released by police on April 30th.

Farhan was accused of committing blasphemy by his next-door neighbour, and local police charged him under 295-C which has a mandatory death penalty.

After an investigation by the Superintendent of police, Abdul Qayyum Gondal cleared him of blasphemy charges and freed him.

It is sad that Farhan has spent months in police custody for a crime he never committed, but good news that he is free now.
But many victims of the blasphemy law spend years in prison, and there is no hope for them.
