A Pakistani Christian woman who was jailed on a false blasphemy charge recounted in a recent interview how she spent four years in solitary confinement and was periodically starved because of her faith in Christ.

A Pakistani Christian woman who was jailed under false blasphemy accusations spent four years in solitary confinement and was starved because of her faith, she has revealed.

Saima, not her real name, told the BBC she was accused of destroying a copy of the Quran by her Muslim neighbours after their children got into a fight.

She was subsequently sentenced to death by a Pakistani court, but for years later her conviction was overturned.

However, she told the BBC she still feels imprisoned as she faces a constant threat, and has scars from where she was imprisoned.

She recalled incidents where the prison guards would withhold food from her because of her Christian faith.

Saima says she also fears visiting her loved ones because she worries about putting them in danger.
