The number of human rights violations in Pakistan is on the rose, the country’s standing committee on human rights has been told.

According to reports, the Human Rights Wing of Ministry of Law Justice and Human Rights recorded 20, 649 violations in from 2012 to June 2015.

4,848 cases were reported in 2012, 4,907 in 2013, 7,372 in 2014 and 3,522 in first six months of 2015, the committee was told.

Committee chairman Muhammad Javed Abbasi asked for details of the complaints to be submitted in time for the next meeting, and also asked for information about any vancant posts in the Wing.

Also at the meeting, senator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah to be given information about proposed bills on women, children and other vulnerable groups.

The committee heard that the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan has submitted 131 law reform reports and reccommendations.

Reports suggest that twenty-four of them have been fully implemented and 13 partially, with 86 outstanding.
