Fifty-seven people have been charged by the Pakistani anti-terrorism court in connection with the lynching of Mashal Khan.

Khan, 23, who was a student at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was shot dead and attacked by a mob on April 13 after he was accused of posting blasphemous material online.

Graphic videos of the killing were then posted on social media, attracting criticism and condemnation.

A judicial inquiry into the incident was ordered by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial government.

A joint investigation team found that blasphemy charges could not be proved against Khan and that his murder was premeditated by people who included university employees.

The anti-terrorism court in Haripur has indicted 57 people in connection with the killing of Khan.
